Climate Change – Are You Responsible?

Global warming and climate change feature prominently in the news these days. They can seem like vague concepts that many of us ignore. This is not totally surprising. As humans, we tend towards being complacent. We get settled in our habits and routines and start overlooking indications and signs that something in our lives is off-balance and needs attention.

Who Is Responsible For Climate Change?

In our personal, everyday lives it may be our health, our finances, our social life, our relationships, our company, or work life that we become complacent about.

Whatever it is, if we continue to ignore it, any imbalance will tip the scales to the incorrect side. It ultimately reveals itself as a health problem in one form or another. This can manifest psychologically, physically, emotionally, and or even financially.

Take, for example, cardiac disease or Diabetes. They have become the top killers in the Western world, and the reason for that is our unhealthy life choices. Absence of exercise, bad food choices and unchecked persistent stress top this list. We know these things are bad for us, there is plenty of evidence and information on the issues they cause, yet we carry on regardless.

Regretfully, these unhealthy practices of ignoring science do not stop on an individual level. The complacency of unhealthy practices leading to lifestyle diseases in our personal life is much like the damaging international problem when the people running our federal governments start acting the same way.

This complacency towards nature pushes her out of equilibrium, further worsens any imbalance, and puts the health of our valuable Planet Earth under distress, pressure and could cause the eventual break-down.

We are Mother Earth’s children and she has given us a myriad of natural assets to experience an incredible life. Any crisis in nature generally happens because of our actions. We abuse the natural world and produce imbalance.

Instead of being grateful for all that the earth gives us, we use and waste resources selfishly, many times for short-term monetary gain. We wind up harming the very environment that we want to thrive and live in.

How We Are Destroying Our World

We cut down forests and remove valuable minerals. Then we pollute the waters and air and endanger the wildlife by destroying their natural environments or killing them for sport.

We need to learn to live in harmony with the natural world.

Our disregard for our personal health is reflected as a disease on an international scale. We need to urgently reverse the damage we have caused to the planet. Many problems have been caused by our life choices.

Many problems that appear in the world in the form of illness, the global pandemics that occur, the forest fires and floods that we have seen, the pollution of both air and water can be traced back to human actions.

We are at risk of a breakdown of government and society because of our complacency.  The same issues that affect our personal health also have a negative impact on our environment. That is, we avoid thinking about the problems. Worse, some people are climate change deniers.

Well now we are reaching the point of no return. The time for denying the problem is over. Many scientists think we have reached tipping point and we need to face up to the challenges.

Things have changed rapidly from minor signs to significant problems and now we have a global crisis to deal with. Disruptions in trade, travel and the economy are occurring. Temperatures are increasing, icecaps in the Polar regions are melting, sea levels are rising endangering island populations and freak weather patterns are becoming more common.

Global warming, ecological pollution, the mindless extinction of life-giving plants and precious animals, food scarcities, floods and forest fires are worldwide international problems that we as human beings need to resolve.

That can only take place when we stop being complacent, accept responsibility and start taking action  to re-establish the natural balance.

Taking Personal Responsibility For Addressing Climate Change

It is sometimes said that how you do one thing is how you do everything. That means how we do the small things in our personal lives is how we will do the bigger things on a much wider scale.

Our individual lives, our lifestyle choices, our daily habits all affect our health, psychologically, physically and mentally. But these things play out on a global scale ultimately impacting the stability and health of the whole world.

Getting rid of complacency by shifting our individual daily practices and changing our mindsets to make healthier choices will set us up to achieve similar outcomes on a global, worldwide basis.

The buck stops with us. We are mere guardians of the planet and changes that are needed both start and end with us.

Each of us is an essential player in a bigger strategy and if we don’t act well, we damage the whole production.

Obviously there will be cost implications to some of the changes that need to be made. However if we want a healthy environment, a thriving economy and to protect the planet for future generations then we need to act. The time for watching and waiting is over and action is needed.

Government Action Needed To Fix Climate Change

Global warming is a real danger to the planet and our way of life. We need to accept responsibility for the damage we have caused and recognize our obligation to fix it. That means making changes in our own lives to limit our negative effect. We also need our governments to take action to prevent further environmental damage.
The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. We should celebrate the fact that a global conference is happening.
However, talk is one thing and action is another. It is frustrating that 25 previous conferences have achieved very little. The world is holding it’s breath hoping that some real action may result from this event.
As a species we are resistant to change. Change brings uncertainty. However if we want to ensure that future generations inherit a world fit to live in, then we must accept that change is needed. Climate change is a phenomenon that cannot be denied and we must all take responsibility for fixing it.
